Derek Braid has been taking photographs since his school days, starting off in the darkroom, developing films and printing black and white photographs. Derek was a contributor of 35mm transparencies to a Photographic Library in Edinburgh until the digital revolution. Derek was an early adopter of digital technology and as well as supplying photographs and illustrated articles to publications, he supplies calendars and cards to local shops.

Derek lives in North Berwick, a seaside town east of Edinburgh on the Firth of Forth, and carries his camera everywhere he goes, walking many miles with his Cocker Spaniel 'Sparky', capturing his local area in different light and in different seasons.
